As a fresher, everyone wants to get recognized for their work as well as be a part of an IT giant like Amazon, Paypal so on and so forth. Unfortunately, both doesn’t go hand in hand unless and until you have out of the box technical skills. I strongly feel that startups are the best place to explore your technical ability and to know how things are being done the way it’s meant to be. Thankfully, I found one, and Watchy it is..!

Right from day one of my internship, I was actively involved in all sprint plans and meetings. This gave me a taste of how SDLC methodologies are applied in product teams. I was asked to get used to Linux and the shell. And as I had very little exposure to working with the terminal. That was when I realized the power of open source and of course the power of terminal as well. After that, I was given some trivial tasks based on networking to set my basics right. Next up, was the main project, and testing automation it was, using Robot Framework. Since I had been fiddling with Python a lot during my college days, it helped me when trying to write keyword driven RF test cases. To be frank, Watchy literally breathes automation. Once in a while, our CEO Srix keeps repeating, “If you are doing a particular task repeatedly, then you must always find a way to automate it.” and that’s the backbone of our testing process. Once my RF test suite is ready, we integrate it with our continuous integration system, Jenkins which triggers the long duration tests. The most amazing part for me was to know that there was a CHITTI robot in Watchy, and yes that was true..!. It was HUBOT (CHITTI) our company’s automation bot that automates a lot of trivial tasks and interacts with us once in a while..!

Above all, there were a bunch of friendly people around me, who were ready to help me on anything. Team lunch at BBQ, evening coffee, live streaming events, hackathons, tech talks and lots more to cherish from this beautiful period of 3 months internship at Watchy..!
